First of All: Music for the Heart & Soul
EARWAX RECORDS WIILIAMSBURG
When it comes to gems, you sometimes gotta leave the beaten path and dig a little deeper. Even though am starting my route in Williamsburg, it will be off Bedford Avenue. I lived in Williamsburg right before moving to Los Angeles, 2 years ago. As everyone probably heard it already, it has been through a big gentrification transformational process. It is a lively, entertaining and walkable neighborhood but lately the charming shops and cafés have had to move to quieter streets due to outrageous rent rise on Bedford.
Earwax Records, Williamsburg oldest record shop, the ultimate Vinyls Mecca founded in 1990, used to be right there on Bedford. It has been replaced by an easily-forgotten clothing store. Now, the great news is: it is still alive and kicking a few blocks down the street, just off Bedford Avenue, between Bedford and Driggs & N9.
Take a walk to this classical Brooklyn quality store and meet Fabio, the music-obsessed owner, his timeless elegance dressed in a fedora hat, and just dig your hands into the musical gems hiding in there. Music for the heart, for the soul and a memory of a lifetime. Don’t be shy to ask for the most improbable records you have ever dreamt of, it might be sitting there waiting for you! Just in case you see me there, please say hi. I will be the girl carrying the Earwax Records black and white tote. Why resist, right?
