Organizing movie parties in your backyard is undoubtedly one of the most entertaining ways to spend some quality time with your closest friends and family members. But if you want to take it up a notch and enjoy the movie party to the fullest with absolutely no disturbances, keep on reading. It’s not impossible to achieve.
Prepare food and drinks
This is nothing new, since you probably always have snacks and drinks ready for the outdoor movie party. But, in order for everyone to have their snacks and drinks close by, make a lot of popcorns and sandwiches and get enough drinks, and keep them in your backyard, close to everyone. Of course, you wouldn’t want these to sit in the open, so if you want to perfect your party, keep them in special containers, mini fridges and coolers where everybody will be able to get what they want without having to get up.
Secure the comfort
If you want your outdoor movie party to be a total success, every one of your guests has to feel comfortable. This can be achieved with adequate seating solutions. Having just a blanket on the grass will not cut it. Instead, opt for cushions, bean bags and even easily inflatable beach chairs and water loungers that will provide maximum relaxation and optimum body position for some fun movie watching. Depending on the height of your seating arrangements you can estimate the best height for keeping the foods and drinks nearby as well. Even if the snacks are close, you don’t want your guest reaching up or down uncomfortably during the movie projection.
Set everything up
Of course, you need to have adequate equipment in order to organize a movie party. You don’t really need a whole outdoor cinema system, but you still require a laptop and projector, at least. You can easily turn your white sheet into a movie screen, connect everything together and you’re done. But, if you are using a laptop, make sure to include additional speakers so that you and your guests can properly hear everything. Proper sound quality is the essence of a fine movie experience.
Light up accordingly
Even though it’s a movie party, when you’re outdoors you don’t need to be in pitch black to enjoy the movie as you would in a regular cinema. Actually, with food, drinks and chairs around, this can be quite dangerous. In that respect, make sure to provide soft lighting for your backyard. Turn off your regular outdoor lights and use some candles instead to set the mood. Of course, you don’t have to use real candles if you don’t want to risk something catching fire. There are many cheap LED lights shaped like candles that can light up the yard and make a nice and cozy atmosphere just the same.
Stop the insects
Most outdoor movie parties are organized during summer months when there are lots of mosquitoes flying around looking for someone to bite. You don’t want you or your guests to constantly feel uncomfortable and annoyed because of these little blood suckers. Luckily, there are many solutions to this problem. You can have some anti-mosquito spray ready to hand out to your guests, or get yourself some citronella candles and torches that would keep those pests at bay, and therefore secure a great movie night in fresh air. If you do get candles and torches, keep these away from anything flammable.
With just a little bit of effort on your part, you can turn your usual outdoor movie parties into events that everyone’s looking forward to. And of course, choose a movie that everyone actually wants to watch.
