The Link Between Ayurveda and Depression

Everyone feels the symptoms and effects of depression differently and is subjective to an individual’s experience. In Psychology, trauma, past experiences, and the constitution of the brain, and hormonal makeup are studied to understand depression. In Ayurveda, three fundamental energies run through all human beings: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.

Ayurveda states that these fundamental energies affect the functioning of your body and mind, and dictate how connected these are with each other. Any imbalance in these energies can cause implications and conditions, where the nervous system is affected and irregulated.

Ayurvedic treatment for depression focuses on which of the three energies are imbalanced and tries to balance and purify the body with respected remedies.
