Drink Lots of Water:

Dehydration is as bad for your hair as it is for your skin. Since 1/4th of hair shaft is composed of water, lack of it causes your hair to become weak. Further, energy-sensitive and photosensitive nerve-endings at the roots of the hair get activated when we consume at least 3-4 litres of water daily. Do not substitute water with tea, coffee or canned fruit juices as these dehydrate your skin and hair even further.

You become what you eat. Eating fruits and vegetables for your daily dose of vitamins and minerals and other protein-rich foods such as soy, chicken and fish are essential to keep hair-fall in check. On the other hand, fondness for junk-food would make your body nutrition-deficient which would lead to brittle, dry, unhealthy and lifeless hair.

Cut down on Chemicals:

Using chemically-loaded shampoos, conditioners and anti-hair-loss serums will do more harm than good to your hair. For e.g., shampoos with sodium laureth sulphate (a detergent-based chemical compound for cleaning) may lead to dryness, split-ends and subsequent hair-fall. If you think buying organic products is going to be an expensive affair, then use either an organic anti hair-loss serum or a conditioner after you have washed your hair with a regular shampoo. This would help you cut-back on the chemical-exposure that your hair undergoes, every-time you apply a non-organic product on them.

Hot-Oil Massage:

A hot-oil massage lubricates each hair strand, thereby reducing the damage. It improves blood circulation in the scalp, which in turn helps nourishing your hair from their very roots. Before washing your hair, massage your scalp with lukewarm olive oil, almond oil or organic hair oil and leave it overnight. If you are in a hurry, apply hair-oil at least an hour before shampooing your hair; followed by 5 minutes of steam on the scalp. This would make the oil seep in properly for better nourishment.

Meditation and yoga are two effective measures to combat mounting stress and achieve better health and peace of mind. While meditation calms your mind, yoga poses improve blood circulation in the head or the crown region. Hair-roots receive optimum nourishment this way and the result is a shinier, healthier and a fuller mane. Some of the yoga poses which are known to effectively prevent or reduce hair-loss are:
